Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. She was appointed as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arm control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
